J.D. Blakley joined Dunn Sheehan LLP in 2013 after practicing for four years at a large and prestigious law firm based in Dallas. With a primary focus on commercial litigation, J.D. has spent his career representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex business disputes.

In doing so, he has acquired a deep understanding of, and an invaluable skill set pertaining to, a wide range of litigation topics, including contract law; partnership, shareholder, and fiduciary relations; labor and employment matters; defamation, fraud and business torts; and disputes relating to trade secrets.

J.D. has also developed a specialty in the field of procurement law at all levels of government contracting (local, state, and federal). He assists clients in all aspects of contract performance and requirements, with a focus on resolving disputes with government entities, including through bid protests, requests for equitable adjustment, and contract claims. Along with his knowledge and experience, J.D. brings passion to each and every case and is dedicated to ardently representing his clients, both on an hourly and contingent-fee basis.

Representative Matters

  • In July of 2013, obtained summary judgment disposing of a six-figure contract claim against a commercial client.
  • In 2012, successfully defended against the appeal of a $1.3 million judgment in a client's favor, assuring a final and executable judgment for the client.
  • In 2011, on behalf of a small business contractor, successfully protested the award of a nine-figure federal contract to a larger competitor.
